Questions about drugs?

I’ve been tasked with writing an article on synthetic cannabinoids and research chemicals. I’m looking for some public input on what people want to know about these topics to avoid getting too specific from having my head in the books too long.

So if you could have any question answered about drugs/research chemicals like synthetic cannabinoids what would it be? I’ll see if I can’t find the answer and incorporate it into my article. Safety/harm reduction information will be included as it is.

synthetics came about to circumvent local laws but since many places caught up and banned what were previously deemed legal highs the only people who tend to use synthetics are those with very little money because when the bottom fell out of the market they becaume very cheap to buy. personally i would never use them because to me its like drinking white spirit brush cleaner instead of a good vodka

Talking about synthetic cannabinoids right? I'm on more or less the same page, I think real cannabis is better in just about every way. The synthetics were just a way to get around legislation. The fact they are mostly full agonists rather than partial agonists is a big part of why they are so much more dangerous.

yeah we are for sure in agreement on that... there's a turkish guy keeps coming on here talking about people around him using spice. fact is weed in turkey is hard to come by and if you do its very low grade. same in egypt

Yeah, I keep hearing about how it's becoming a bigger and bigger problem in Turkey, I hadn't heard about Egypt yet, that sucks. I'm hoping once the USA chills out on the drug war they'll stop pressuring the rest of the world and things will slowly get better. I think that's a ways away yet though. I wouldn't mind chatting to him and seeing if he has a story or two he wouldn't mind sharing.

well im sure he will be on again with the same story sometime in the near future... im not so sure america has much influence on the european or Asian markets though. the only time i can think of that was a trade embargo in the gulf during the early 90s which cut off supplies to Europe but now many people source it from nearer to home anyway

I'll keep my eye out for him. I think the USA's influence is mostly through the United Nations' policies, that said its less influential than it was back in the 50s to 80s.

Southeast Asia I know a bit about as they are one of the primary suppliers in the opium trade, mostly Cambodia and Laos. The region is called the triangle and produces a ton of opium. China also provides about 90% of the research chemical market, including fentanyl precursors etc. China white was a pretty infamous form of heroin a few decades back and was straight up fentanyl from China. So the American's mostly influenced those through being a large market and pressuring the UN.

Generally cutting off the supply of drugs like cannabis and opium leads to a spike in use of locally produced methamphetamine and fentanyl since you have to import a smaller quantity than with opium.

ah well opium is different and the whole reason america went into afghanistan... the taliban were burning the opium fields and stopping the production and america was feeling the effects as they were americas biggest supplier and we all see how big pharma was relliant on that trade stream when we look at the opioid epidemic

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty amusing "coincidence" the Taliban shut off opium exports in 2000 and Bush (with a huge stake in opioid manufacturer Eli Lilly) started the invasion/occupation of Afghanistan in 2001.

especially when you look at the real causes and the profiteering that goes on while thousands of innocent lives are taken but termed as collateral damage. americas war machine is horrible but i can't say we are totally innocent here in the uk supplying arms to saudi arabia or endorsing sanctions on poor countries where the governments dont pay but the people starve

I think we are past the point where it's any particular country, which is almost scarier since there's no one to really reign in Facebook, Google or the Pharmaceutical companies operating overseas. I always feel like a bit of a conspiracy nut ranting about this stuff when I get into it but the reality is disturbing.

Have you had a chance to read confessions of an economic hitman by John Perkins? It covers the history of this stuff pretty well from the 60s-80s mostly.

i haven't no but i suspect it wouldn't be too far off my own thoughts anyway. i certainly think its gone past government level and now we see governments are just a tool of multinational corporations that have even supercedded the realms of the illuminati. its like they have gone rogue even from them bastards. completely autonomous. well just about anyway.

It's not completely game over yet, I think we are getting so top heavy that it's almost impossible to avoid some kind of massive correction. That said a depression might do it all on its own even without a large scale war or large societal regression. My big concerns right now is we have an increasing demand and dwindling supply on important resources like water and agriculturally useful land, with the compounding issues of population growth and climate change I don't see how we will avoid some kind of rebalancing.

well we are certainly seeing 'the people' mobilise all over the globe and hopefully not all of it is in a nationalistic populist way so i haven't given up all hope just yet.

I think the nationalist populism is just a pushback from people getting scared at the pace of change of globalization. There are also very real concerns about an elite minority taking too much power/control in a globalization scenario if we dont' handle it correctly. That said I think its inevitable, we need to be able to address global problems on a global scale eventually. My hope is that the UN is still salvageable enough to eventually function as a sort of democratic world government. But for that to happen the USA has to stop using the IMF to force smaller nations to vote for American interests in UN votes and the veto system has to die in a fire :P

yeah i couldnt agree more. apart from populism has been employed to gain votes rather than to truly kick back. we saw trump do it and just recently boris and its happened in a few other countries too but thankfully what then happens is that the people who voted them in a s a protest soon get to see they merely voted for more of the same. populism is in no way sustainable. i think people though are beginning to see there is more that unites us than divides us so we can beat the politics of division in the same way we fought the politics of fear with the truth about weapons of mass destruction never being present in iraq.

Populism is a big part of what killed the Romans as well from what I understand. Appealing to a mob and not following through is a great way to turn the mob on yourself.

I think a lot of the current political climate is to keep people too scared to cause any big shakeup. If people are scared Russia/China/insert paper tiger here is going to destroy their way of life then they are less likely to question overbearing leaders using that as an excuse to consolidate their own power.

yeah i guess the politics of fear is still employed in that regard. especially through media propaganda russia this/china that but its created a new strength for both those nations so you wonder where its all really originating from. according to 'hypernormalisation' it could actually be a creation of their own making

Smokeable/vaorizeable you mean? The majority of psychedelics can be vaporized ifthey are extracted to the base chemical and turned into a funerary salt (ie make them basic)
