There's nothing wrong with having preferences, and there's nothing wrong with maintaining a pattern you find works for you. The key is to be open-minded enough to see when better options might arise. We don't want to be headstrong, but being flighty isn't an asset, either.

We generally don't put the label of stubborn on ourselves, as it's impossible for us to make decisions that don't make sense according to our own perspective. The label is usually put on others by those who don't get their way. People feel their perspective makes sense, and they can't understand how others can't see it and conform. If a person isn't stubborn (pushing their agenda onto others), they're unlikely to call others stubborn.

My mother used to call me the most stubborn person she knew, yet it was always when her way didn't work for me, yet she insisted I do it her way (ie eating more of her food, even when I was full). I had my challenges with my father, also. One of my chores, as a child, was watering the plants in the yard. I actually enjoyed watering the plants with a hose. Unfortunately, every time he saw me watering, he'd come outside and complain I was doing it wrong. He insisted I place my finger in front of the hose to aim the water. No matter how many times I told him my finger was too small (and just slid into the hose and sent water all over the place), he insisted I would have more control with my finger. I would use my finger until he went back into the house and then reverted back to using my thumb.

I can be stubborn. I have been the one to reach out, but I won't keep being the one to reach out... If someone's really meant to be in your life they will be and if they're not maybe they weren't meant to be

I'm a Taurus and I don't really believe in that stuff but I like to blame my stubbornness on that. :-D I'm pretty stubborn. I can come around though. I just need some time to mull over things on my own.

I also work in a field where it's arguably better to be stubborn even if you aren't entirely right than not stubborn at all even if you are since it takes tremendous motivation and dedication to make ideas come to fruition. So the person who succeeds tends to be the one who is really committed to an idea and willing to follow it through and address any problems on the way over the type who is so lacking in stubbornness that they keep changing their minds.

Think that's true for any field where executing a design/concept takes months or years, not days. It tends to reward stubborn types, like ones who can fully commit to an idea even if it's mediocre over the types who can't commit even to the best ideas. So aside from being naturally on the stubborn side, I almost find a need to be stubborn on purpose in my field.

Think that's true for lots of types trying to produce something where stubbornness is arguably a good quality like a Gordon Ramsay, or Steve Jobs, or Linus Torvalds, or Elon Musk, or a James Cameron. These are all ridiculously stubborn and uncompromising people. They insist on their standards and ways and ideas even when a lot of practical evidence suggests they are veering towards insanity. But I think it's hard to do what they do without stubbornness. Well, maybe that's just my way of trying to justify my own. :-D I try to put a positive spin to it.
