Why would some people set strange ringtones for their mobile phones?

I can understand if it’s a ringtone like music or any default ringtone but there’s this middle aged lady at work whenever her phone rings it gave out a strange sound then she answered the call as if it was normal lol I was laughing so hard. The ringtone isn’t Chinese or other language it’s like a childish alien language it goes like this:

Ringtone: « Knee bah sue sue sue sue sue sue Poh pui Poh Poh pui knee bah nya? Nya nya nya »

I was like wtf lol. Even my colleague said she was weird for liking the ringtone. She has been using that same ringtone for months.

I used to play poker with this guy whose ring tone was him saying "pick up the phone". "Pick up the phone already". "G*d d*mmit, pick up the phone"! And the voice just got angrier and angrier as it went. We'd all laugh everytime it went off. I guess some people just want to be different.
I don't have an unusual ring tone but I use my phone alarm to get up in the morning. And mine is Mickey from Rocky saying "Get up you son of a b*tch".

I once had a dog barking ring tone, thought it was pretty cool. People would start looking around for the barking dog.

People like non standard stuff to they don't miss calls usually, soo many ring tones sound so similar.

Distinctness. Use a unique sound, and not only is there no way of mistaking it for someone else's phone, you can even tell the difference between different callers.
