Today I had a letter for a warrant for my arrest.
If I go to the police station will they keep me in or will they arrange another court date? As I did contact the courts and told them I would not be able to attend
Either you live in a third world country, in a place where the laws are not up-to-date or the laws of your country are inappropriate.
Having an arrest warrant for a minor traffic offense is unheard of in any civilized country. I am not familiar with the laws of Bhutan, Zimbabwe or Uruguay, but if you live in a a Western European country, then this does not happen.
I would recommend you get a medical certificate that states that on the day you were supposed to appear in court, you were not able to attend because of your gastroenteritis. With this paper in hand, you should not have a problem because this is a medical case that prevented you from attending.
Don't go to the police station before you consult with a lawyer but call the station to ensure that you will not be arrested when you show up.
Yes I am going to give them a call for sure
I'd shit. :) And probably cry. I did not change my name for this to happen to me.
Yep, the way I am feeling at present
When you called the court, did they give you instructions on how to change your court date? If so, just follow what you were told. If not, call for instructions. The warrants are automatic when people don't show for their court date. They're not going to chase you down, but if you get pulled over for an unrelated act, they will arrest you for the warrant. This is something you handle with the court, not the police station. Just show you're responsible and document everything and bring the documentation with you to your court hearing.. When you do go to court, they'll probably drop the warrant, though they may add an additional fee to pay for processing the warrant.
I once got a fix-it ticket for my headlamps being out of adjustment. The ticket said to go to the Sheriff's inspection station and have it retested. I followed those instructions. After getting it signed off, I asked the sheriff what I was to do next. He said, "Just go home... all is fine." Afterward, I got a warrant in the mail. When I did go before a judge, he said after getting the fix-it ticket signed off, I was supposed to take the documentation to the court. Nowhere on the ticket did it state that. The judge dropped everything... but he did fine me for the warrant.
Just a driving offense?
No felonies? No property damage?
Then yes you you will just get a new court date and they will enter into system that you have a new date so you will not have to worry about being arrested.
Depending on state, the warrent will be completely squashed by court or you you may pay a small fine.
It's not a big deal I promise, but deal with it in a timely manner

I would keep copies of records saying you were in the hospital at the time and bring them to the courthouse.
Yep, gonna be keeping any info
Call to ensure the office processed your attendance correctly. It may be they have and the letter is a mistake.
Usually they would send officers the next day to you getting a warrant.
Call before going. Tell them exactly what you said here. Ask them what they want you to do. Also feel free to call a law firm. There are even free legal advice places.
If you are hot and virgin, marry me for a get out of jail free card.
