Am I the only one afraid of cats?

I'm a cat person, but I can understand what you mean. I've grown up around cats so it's easier for me to read the body language so they're not that scary. I definitely am more comfortable around animals I interact with regularly.

Cats don't like me and I seem to be afraid that maybe they hurt me in a previous life. but for no reason when cats stare at me I'm like "god I have to run away from home"

It could be the energy you put out. Animals can feel how you feel and if you're stressed out, they will be too.

cats can be super playful, and they like to playfully bite/attack but that’s just them trying to play hahaha

I gave food to 2 stray cats and I started to love their cute fur, I cut my nails and nails wasn't long, and didn't hurt them, but the angry cats looked at me and after I loved them, I started giving their food when they finished their food, them and they attacked me.

@NathanDavis is the cat whisperer, he could explain why the cats did that but since you mentioned that they’re stray cats, I would guess it’s because they don’t fully trust you since they don’t know if you’ll hurt them or not… but them eating food from you is definitely a good sign! so they just need more time, more food to build that trust and eventually you’ll be able to cuddle them and all and they’ll be super lovely!

If they seem warey of you, dont approach too close and hold out your hand so they can smell you and maybe try to talk to them / call them.

Most will come though some take a while, many will come right away.

Then try to make a fuss of them in a non threatening way, dont make any sudden movements and avoid contact which could be viewed as an attempt to attack or capture them.

They like to be stroked and tickled on their cheeks and down their neck most because they have scent glands here which they use to mark territory as theirs, so mark you as theirs will help them to feel safe.

They like a fuss generally on their heads, behind the ears etc.

Some cats like rough play too, they might try to hold your hand with their front paws and bite, though usually not hard, they just like to have their mouth around their 'prey'. Some times they will also then rake with their back feet / claws.

You may not want to participate in rough play as it will result in some minor scratches and perhaps a small amount of blood, but if this does happen you should 'play dead' just keep still and they will just stay like that holding your finger in their mouth and holding with their front paws, trying to move away could trigger raking with the back feet and claws but after a while they will let go.

I had a cat like that and she would purr happily while 'fighting' my hand.

Most cats just want a fuss made of them, its pretty rare for rough play but it occured to me that it was important to mention as you might think they dont like you, though it is also possible if they are scratching you that they dont like you i suppose but I would only expect this from a wild or perhaps abused cat.

Yes, I can understand if you’re scared of lions or something but cats? You twippin twippin, respectfully. Spiders are reasonable. They barely even have faces, their legs are basically hairy human boneless fingers with hooks instead of nails, they have a bizarre physique, and their mouths look like confiscated Tushis

Animals can sense when you are afraid, nervous, happy, sad, and stressed. They act according. If you don't show them that you are afraid, they will give you loves and purr. I have had cats my whole life. I see their different reactions
