My friend thinks that Xbox one 500gb isn't that powerful that true?

While still being capable as a gaming console it is now nine years old and classed as old technology (released in 2013). It is powerful, but not when compared to the current generation.

It was superceided by the XBox One X, an interim upgrade to the platform in 2017, and the current generation the Series X/S was released in 2020. If you want to get a XBox console then you really need to look at getting a Series X/S.

I still use an Xbox One 500GB as my primary gaming machine but I did upgrade the 500GB HDD with a 2TB SSD which has not only given it much faster load times but also increased the capacity for games. My son also has the same console but with 3TB of external SSD storage. We will upgrade them to the Series X as soon as supply improves.

If you want even more power then you need to go down the PC route but you need to spend a fair bit of money to get something decent.

It's not powerful in terms of storage, that's for sure.

I have a Ps4 500gb and with that amount of space you can hardly put an adequate amount of games in it.

I had to buy a 4tb extended storage just to download all my games.

To be fair I do have a lot of games.

If you're a person that doesn't play many games, like just a couple then maybe 500gb alone is fine.

yeah pretty much because you won't have a lot of save space for a lot of your games. Since the higher quality games now require more storage space. So yeah 500gb isn't so great.

Yeah but there are other games besides xbox one games, and if those games were played on a different system (like a high level pc) they could be played at higher framerates and better graphics. The xbox one can only run games at 60 fps for the most part in 1080 p. Many pcs can run better so its not super powerful.
Granted its definitely powerful enough for most games
