Among humans, it was *probably* the Neanderthal- they had the most SPACE in their skulls, but since we don't have any of their brains, and there aren't any of them left, we can't be sure. Among animals in total, it's the sperm whale.

Without looking it up I'm going to guess a Blue Whale has the largest brain, which is also the largest mammal, I think.
