Why do people hide the license plate numbers of their vehicles when they post pictures online?

Some people might have the same model in the same colour and might carry out criminal activities and clone that number plate. And the innocent person who is the actual owner of the car will have a tough time proving their innocence.

Safety reasons. You can use a license plate number to look up who the car is registered to and in turn find out where they live etc.
