According to smartasset. com, "The median transactional account balance for those under 35 years old was $2,600. During the years between 35 and 44, balances grow significantly. The median for 35-year-olds to 44-year-olds is $3,800. "

Hmm... I don't call that significant. Basically, those numbers tell me than people 44 years and younger are living paycheck to paycheck.

No one should have a dime in a bank savings account. Rather than gathering dust in a bank and earning a fraction of a percent in interest, money needs to be invested.

There's statistics about that. I think in the U. S. the average person has more debt than savings so they're in the negative when it comes to savings.

Prior to surgery, I had $10,000 saved up. Only down to $3,000 right now.

It can pretty much be age dependent.
The older you are the more you tend to have, or you have most of it invested and not a lot in savings.
