That is literally every powerful culture from that time period and back. Spoils of war have existed for 10s of thousands of years. If anything, we should be happy they were not super destructive like most (Romans, Mongols, Persians, etc.) and instead preserved them so we can see them in relatively good shape.

It is a more modern concept to not take spoils of war from another country, rape their women, and kill most men.
