For me it's extreme nausea (can't even drink water), vomiting, weakness (but can't sleep), and a lot of anxiety. It usually goes away by the afternoon. What about you? And how long does it usually last?
I drank beer heavily as a young man. I had hangovers as you describe that would last for days.
I quit drinking for many years, then when I began smoking cigars a few years ago, I decided to take up whiskey to pair with the cigars. If I occasionally have a bit more whiskey than I should have, I'll feel a little shaky the next day, but not terribly so.
I'm sure the difference from my younger years to now is the amount of alcohol ingested, but I also wonder if I was allergic to beer. I do remember that beer made from rice was less troublesome than beer made from corn, but bourbon is made primarily from corn.
Who knows?
Good luck to you.

I'm at the point where I can't even drink without getting a headache that night.
I just gave up on drinking because I don't really like how any alcohol tastes anymore and it all either makes me sick or puts me in a vulnerable position for people to take advantage of me.

Didn't get many back in the day but when I did they were splitting migraines all next day.
I just feel tired. I don't really have bad hangovers.
