Some treat their pet as family. Others treat them as less than family. When Fiona called Donkey Shrek’s PET, it sure seemed to offend Donkey (‘So much for noble steed!’). When Delilah called Chance a pet, He got offended as well, in Homeward Bound II. A person owns a pet. A person also owns a slave. How can a companion be like a slave?
