I like your entire setup. I was getting into my license when my mum became ill. We often listened to hub net for the British voices of home. I still do.

Getting a ham radio license is so easy today. No need to buy books

Go to QRZ dot COM and they have free practice test pools. Just take them over and over till you have them memorized

Unlike when I took the test, I had to know Morse code. Today you don't

Oh if you do happen to pass the test and get your ham ticket. Don't do what the other radio users do.

They all plaster their call sign all over the internet, From YouTube to Suckbook and everything else.

Limit your call sign strictly for radio use only.

Many years ago, I had a CB license like you (I'm old too) and used to QSL shortwave radio stations.

Its a collection CB, Ham and Commercial radios. It's a photo of my service desk from back when I was a radio tech

It could be, Some them radios are from the 1930s and 1940s and one on the desk was used in WW2

Neat, old tech always looks cool to me, so many buttons and nobs like in sci-fi spaceships, and it usually works hassle free, doesn't update, and doesn't have outages (or break easily).
