Due to the so-called war on opiates, people are turning back to alcohol for pain relief. In many ways, alcohol is better than opiates for pain relief. It can also kill.

I've gone back to alcohol for pain relief. It's working for me. It might kill me, but hey, something has to kill me eventually. It might as well be alcohol.

Covid messed up a lot of people. Lots of people were unemployed and isolated. I f I was still drinking I am sure I would have been drunk most of the time myself. a

I think it's probably due to depression. Life is more complicated now and we're dealing with more problems all at the same time. So, some people turn to alcohol.
