Is ghosting someone for any reason cowardly?

At least I tell the person in their face instead of just disappearing without any explanation. I think ghosting is cowardly and pathetic.

If people have been chatting and they apparently got on well, then one of them just completely cuts the other off, that is just acceptable.

It's when you have a a situation where the other person is an absolute nut case and is totally upsetting your life and you have to do something to get on with your life without them, where I would say it's acceptable.

If they're really crazy, I might send a last text stating ''I really think you're crazy, go seek help. Stop contacting me or I'll call the cops on you, you're blocked'' and then proceed to blocking them and follow through.

Unless there was physical and clearly mental or emotional harm, I think ghosting is for those without Backbones. It also can be contended that it is a blessing to see the truth in the other person.

I'd say that it depends upon the circumstances.

Many scenarios come to mind.

The 'ghoster' may not even be aware of having 'ghosted' another person.

If someone feels that they've been ghosted, that's their feeling and they must deal with that feeling as they will. Just because a person may feel ghosted, that doesn't mean that that intent was meant by the so-called ghoster.

If someone feels that they've ghosted another and feels remorse for having done so, it's up to them to act in a manner in which they see fit.

The term ghosting does seem to be mainly applied to romantic involvement but can be applicable to many types of social interactions, where a sudden drop in contact can be attributed to many different reasons, not simply to inflict emotional pain upon another human being.

That's life, as harsh as it may sometimes seems to be.

It’s only appropriate if:

• they threatened you
• they knowingly insulted you over a deep topic
• you found out and confirmed they cheated
• they lied to you about something major (they have an STD, kids, etc.).

However if you ghost someone just because they made you uncomfortable or didn’t find them attractive then you are selfish coward. Period.
