What advice would you give your younger self if you could travel back in time?

If you could travel back to any point in your life and give yourself some advice, at what point would you go back? And what advice would you give your younger self?

I wouldn’t travel back in time just yet, but I feel like an older and wiser me would eventually pick something out that needed changing.

As a young teen: Be more confident with girls.

As a slightly older teen: Don't leave college.

But, while this is an awesome thought exercise and a great question, if I did either of those changes, I wouldn't have met my wife and had my kids and that would be sad.

I would tell myself to move out and go to therapy for being molested.

I went down a dark spiral after all of that came to surface, and lost complete control of my life, and nobody really knew how to help me.

I didn't understand why I was doing what I was doing. All I knew was I was insatiable for sex (I'm a Christian who believes in waiting for sex until marriage), and I had nightmares at home. My sex offender visited my house every day, and I couldn't do anything about it.

If I'd moved out, and gone to therapy, maybe I could have been spared of that whole episode and been stable.

The main thing I would want to tell myself at age 15 would be super weird and awkward, details about relationships and sex life, I had three v. bad relationships that were all different in what made them bad, I am not sure exactly what I would say "don't date anybody until you are 20" might not work too well!! I guess I would try to explain what types of relationships to seek or avoid and I might name specific people to avoid. But maybe I would just end up making different mistakes that would be just as bad or worse?

I made some really dumb decisions driving, getting in a bad wreck (twice) where I should have done something different and I lost my awesome Honda Accord. I also got involved with a couple of women I shouldn't have. I just would have told myself to trust my gut more.

Keep your head up, take all opportunities even if they don't seem very beneficial at first, research narcissists and stay away from them (especially one in particular), say "No" more often, keep doing what you know is right and true, and always respect yourself even when you're the only one that does.
