Which one would you buy and why?

Okay so I am 23 this would be my first car. I am between a 2009 Mini Cooper S that has 84,518 miles manual transmission. and a 2008 Scion xD with 77,547 miles. Automatic
This would be my first car ever, I learned to drive on a stick shift which I absolutely love, but my brother says the Mini Cooper is expensive to mantain. I am clueless about cars, and I want to make the best decision possible with which of the two would you go and why? Anyone that could stir me in the right direction please? I plan on using the car for work commute only.
When there is little to no traffic and it’s not a big distance. I live in VA so I don’t know if weather etc would be a factor to consider as well.

I'd buy the Scion. The Mini is going to be batshit expensive to maintain and they're owned by BMW which makes maintenance etc. even more expensive. Here's the other thing: VA traffic sucks (particularly NOVA). you don't want a manual in that traffic no matter how much you love it.

Buy the Scion! My grandparents have a mini and they're often driving 3.5 hours just to get to the nearest mini dealership to get it fixed. Very high maintenance cars

you can go online and find out about how reliable and on average what it costs to maintain one.
Also, I would suggest seeing if either one requires premium gas.
A very costly requirement.
