I'd be on the fence about it. $100K isn't really that much, I could stay on Earth and make over $100K in a year, and have access to all the wonderful resources here. Earth is pretty nice, what with all the tasty food, beautiful people, and heaps of activities to participate in.
But then again, if I were being given $100K tax free, and all my expenses were paid and I had just leisure time on the moon to do as I wished and there were interesting things to do such as interact with other people, read books, develop or practice skills, &c., then it could be a more appealing prospect as a paid vacation.
I'd be fine on the moon for a year, I'd mostly worry about being bored, and also missing my friends and family, but a year passes pretty quickly.
Assuming I could get food, water, power, and oxygen- and had some time to prepare, so it wasn't "agree, get bonked on the head, then come to on board the capsule". And if I could bring at least a couple of books; there's not a whole lot to DO on the Moon these days, and I'd need some way of amusing myself during the dark times when I couldn't just hike around and practice my slam dunk.
Come to think of it, I might need some special training and/or equipment to stay able to withstand Earth's gravity, when the year was up. Not much point making money if I'd never be able to go home to spend it.
If it was guaranteed I wouldn't die and add another two 0's maybe we can talk
Two zeros will be added out of the kindness of my heart. $00100,000
$000100,000
$100,000.000
i vote no, but what if i took a GAG guy friend or 3?
Thank you for taking the time to vote & to answer your question if you took a GAG guy friend or 3 each person would receive the same deal. $100,000 each.
id go then lol

I think I'd be too scared. I'd be paranoid that I'm a completely expendable lab rat who could easily die due to faulty/in-development technology and they can basically get away with it so they'd be like *shrug* "bring in the next subject".
If it were to be a living on the moon simulation taking place on Earth I'd be much more likely to participate. Presumably there'd be a whole load of people doing it though as well, I'd feel safer doing it (on Earth this is) if there was a large group of people taking part. It'd make me feel safer, less likely to be so easily expendable (since a load of people disappearing would be much more of a big deal than one person disappearing).
But no, on the actual moon. I think no I wouldn't do that, even for a million.
I don't know, it's a year but for $1- yeah, i don't think so. That's a whole year... of no ps4, wifi, my snacks, cropdusting in the stores, a lot of my time spent just staring at the world and being super scared to make a mistake because I could die. :c
Absolutely not. There's nothing to do there, I would be trapped in some enclosed space hoping that nothing went wrong. Besides, I already earn a lot more than $100K/year. To spend a year on the moon? I'm not sure they could pay me enough. It would have to be enough that when I got back I could pretty much do whatever I pleased, so like $20 million minimum.
Makes no sense, right?
It makes perfect sense to me at least. It’s like comparing a potato to a diamond & in this case people would look at the moon as a potato & look at other planets as a diamond.
Not really. Remember that different equipment is used; this is why the moon landing deniers aren't shut up instantaneously by turning the Hubble on the landing sites.
@NamerOfStars I searched NASA pics for the moon and they're all blurry zoomed out, while planets farther away are clear and zoomed in.
Right- different levels of light and different equipment processing it. Ever take a set of binoculars and put them in front of ANOTHER set of binoculars, to try to make a super-enhanced image? Same reason that doesn't work.
@NamerOfStars neither is there any remote control machines on the moon? Why? I read that multiple drones touched mars.
I don't know if there currently are; for that matter, I don't know if there are any telescopes currently operating that COULD give us good pictures of the lunar surface.
Get using your own telescope at home. Where is the remote conteil drone that landed on mars videos?
Actually, there were.

by the way I have zero opinions on moon landings. Could have actually happened, could've been 100% fake. So no bias here.
There might be more but, who cares?
Humans WENT to the moon.
They DROVE on the moon.
There's not much there to see so why waste zillions of dollars on learning nothing?
You need to think with a bit more maturity about the reality of things.
Projects cost money.
Money comes from taxpayers.
Taxpayers don't like their money wasted - especially when it is expensive and doesn't give much benefit.
So, taxpayers often vote in fiscally responsible people - that's what the GOP used to thrive on.
And, when you have enough of them, they cancel projects.
Now, a long time ago - before you were born - the technology to do those things was not very mature at all. IIRC, the microprocessor was INVENTED because of the space program just to save weight. And they were not cheap long ago. And memory was not nearly as condensed or cheap as it is now. Creating rovers was not easy and, again, expensive and, for the moon, a waste of money. Even the scientists didn't want them for the moon; they wanted the precious dollars that they could get spent on better projects that would give a better return on investment. Thus, Mars.
One day, there may be some rovers sent to the Jovian or Saturnian moons, but there's not much to gain there either yet. Mars is more important since there is a thrust to actually go there and perhaps live there.
@Cassie88 they have a remote control car on mars. But can't have one on the moon.
@Cassie88 funny... where is it today? Where is the live camera? They have it on mars.
@Cassie88 you don't know crap about the real conspiracies, ok? This silly planet and moon astronomy shit is a distraction. Next Epstein scandal happens, they will stage another moon landing denial shit show... and you'll forget that pedophile rings exist.
Why do crazy people like you even exist? How did this come about? You LITERALLY have all the information on this that you could ever want at your fingertips, and yet you're too damned lazy to even bother to search out information that may burst your little paranoid bubble of "reality" you seem to be inhabiting.
@Cassie88 that's funny, as if even drunk people I just talked to are more conscious than you.
And yes some information is in front of our noses, and I can't deny it, that's why I share what I share.
@Cassie88 my questions are mostly rhetorical, there us a bunch of fake shit. You think a solar panel won't be crushed from absolute vacuum... the duct tape vehicles...
It's all a distraction and you're all paying it way too much attention while life on earth is getting to an irreversible situation.
@Cassie88 it's like I constantly see these "new scientific breakthroughs" and there's just one unanswered question... if these things are just being discovered... what did they use 50 years ago?
@Cassie88 No no. All the pictures of the moon are blurry. The picture that I posted, as sharp and clear as it was, wasn't as clear and sharp as he expected it to be (according to what standard he can't explain) so by his interpretation it was blurry. Don't you know, he search for pictures of the moon at NASA, and ALL the pictures of the moon were blurry and zoomed out. lol
Apollo 15, 16, and 17 all had lunar rovers - vehicles driven by astronauts. I remember in 1971 when Apollo 15 had the rover and it was a big thing.
This picture is from Apollo 17; the tracks were made by the lunar rover.

There are pictures from LRO (Lunar Reconnaissance Observatory) of the landing sites including rover tracks.

I am done with this question.
I was alive 50+ years ago watching this stuff on TV.
The moon landings were real.
@abc3643 damn, first of all let's separate the political charge and I'm not denying the possibility of man going up there, I'm saying I have no opinion due to unreasonable inconsistencies.
They do not have the magnifying power to get those pics from the earth?
Bow then is this visible of the saturnian moon,
Why not zoom in so close to out moon that we see the rover tracks in details?
no... I can make more than that here on Earth
so it won't be for the money
for the experience though... I would go yes
Without the $100,000 what would the experience be worth?
I would even pay 100k for that experience... one of a kind experience
That is a tiny amount of money for that. Absolutely NO.
It’s like a paid vacation, look at it that way.
Think adventure & sometimes you have to make the best of a boring situation. You can have fun.
You can do pop a wheelies & hit shit with the moon cars & you can breakout the golf balls & try to hit earth satellites out of the shy & more. Look for aliens.
I’ll talk to corporate on this one.
What would the name of your dispatch be (Paper)?
The Full Moon is perfect!
Hmm.. is that in moon dollars? No way I'd go for any amount.
Those would be full moon dollars & out of the kindness of my heart I’ll throw in a stack of pancakes & a number two pencil.
Oooh, this is getting tempting now! :)
It’s always good to sweeten a deal sometimes & as for the number two pencil I’ll even sharpen it.
I'll start packing now. I'll even pack a bathing suit just in case they discover water there. #moonbeach :)
Also pack a fishing pole just in case & hopefully they have beachfront property up there as well.
HAHAHA!!
I wouldn't want to. I'd probably have anxiety go sky high.
As for the journey the second you reach space beyond sky high you are going as as for your anxiety you’ll probably shit your pants on the ride up. As for me I’m ready to blastoff.
oh snap! i didn't know you were paris. i'd go for $1,000,000
Oh Snap is Paris still on here? $100,000 is the offer.
it's cool. i won't tell
if i had enough food and oxygen and water to last me a year while on the moon i'd do it for free just to get away from you fucking humans for a while
A home away from home. A place where there aren’t any wars, a place where there isn’t any fighting, a place where there isn’t any crime. The moon could be that place & I would sign up tomorrow if I could go to the moon.
As long as I had food/water and activities so I wouldn’t get hungry/thirsty or bored I’d go I could get away from the people on this planet and it would be bliss.
No, I do not think so. I would like to go for a vacation but a whole year is too much. Then having to re acclimate myself to earth's gravity when I got back would take a long time. Not for just a hundred grand.
If I had a reasonable expectation, that I would survive the experience and come back to the planet with little or no ill effects. For me that would be the experience of a lifetime.
While there, if I were there, I would have to be a person doing some kind of research, geologically, medically, some detailed research having to do with that experience in that environment et cetera. Exploring the surface of the moon, including the dark side, and the research involved in doing that, the task of just staying alive there, would be an unforgettable experience
I was enlisted in the Marines, which was a pretty tough 4 years. I could easily handle living in a moon base for a year. And I'd smoke all the people in the astrophotography groups, if I could take pictures of the Earth from the moon.
Yes I'd bring pot seeds with me and hotbox the moon
Party On The Moon!
Exactly too bad I'd only be the 2nd person to break laws in space
Of course not! I make more than that working from the comforts of home.
Throw on another zero or two and I might consider it.
I might be afraid of what happened on Space: 1999.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6BXaGEuqxo
I would totally try it provided the proper training
can you imagine the amount of money it would take to just build whats in that picture?
One could only imagine & I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a base up there already.
Sounds fun, not for the money though. For the experience.
My thoughts exactly & the 100k is a little bonus.
Not enough lol.
Only if it was super safe and nice like a big hotel.
