Grass. You know, this stuff:

People think it's just dandy to grow on good cropland. They don't eat it, of course; humans can't. But they don't feed it to their animals, or bale it and sell it like hay. They feed, water, and fertilize it, and when it starts growing in, they cut it down and pay someone to take it away. It's conspicuous consumption writ large.

Meanwhile, you take the humble dandelion:

People call it a weed. Yet you CAN eat it- every last part of the plant, in fact. It'll grow without you helping- in fact, it'll grow despite you trying to stop it, and instead of being grateful that nature's provided them with food free of charge or effort, people despise dandelions and even so far as to look down on those who fail at removing them.

As someone who's been poor- and I don't mean "I can't afford a proper vacation" poor, I mean "sneaking through the neighborhood's yards at 2AM to find dandelions, because they were the only calories I'd have that day" poor- I disagree completely.

Good job! I’m glad you are in a better place.
There are a lot of edible plants (“weeds”) that the people frown on. Make fun of and call it disgusting when in fact they are very healthy and has lots of medicinal effects. Now they call these superfoods trying to charge an arm an a leg for when they grow all over.. such as honeysuckles, certain mushrooms, etc.
While on a walking trip… I taught my kids…in the event that you are out and lost and need to survive till someone finds you… find all these dandelion leaves. Pea leaves. Wild berries.
No…but they are training people to eat highly processed food.

even “black” people accept this derogatory term.
I have a lot of friends from different countries, but I never call them black.
A few of my best friends are Haitian, Jamaican, and Ethiopian, Egyptian.
I know many Americans who are African descents because they can’t trace back to the country of origin. Still I don’t refer them as black Americans.
I am Chinese American, I would not be happy if someone calls me yellow on the news.
