I do love when I am on my periods, I feel happy, feminine, sexy and excited. I feel like I am a woman whose body functions the way it’s supposed to do. I never thought periods were gross, I loved having period sex and also loved painting my partner’s body with blood, before we both showered. I think nothing about the human body is gross. I am happy I’ve got periods as a reminder of what my body is created for.
We didn’t have sex ed at school, so my mom brought me some educational children’s books and also talked to me about lots of things. Which I think is a right thing to do as a parent.
I am glad she did.
That's amazing
I mean whether you do or don't it's a funny thing for jokes to be made about just like farts. Just sad for woman who have to deal with the reality of it.
I don't think it's due uneducated people who make such jokes.
Then personally I agree with sex education for youngers but I can't say any of my schools ever taught it right and they did more harm than good. So I don't know about schools trying to teach this stuff tbh, hell in one my classes which I remember quite clearly sadly they showed us many species having sex... like ya don't need to know what a cockroach having sex looks like lmao.
Or watch a dog give birth. Because welp this shit is just traumatising. So no doubt they would go hey this is what animals look like when doing this because we can't show you humans that would be illegal. But showing humans would also be traumatising at that age...
So schools are just dumb and don't know how to teach such stuff.
There's nothing wrong with Schools doing it.
I live in a country with what's actually fairly *good* sex ed at school.
Norway.
We even have sex ed aimed at 12 year olds broadcast in prime time on national TV with people that age taking part in teaching about puberty and the changes to the body that entails etc.
@Losalt How can you argue with something I've personally experienced?
This would be like someone saying "I got shot so guns aren't that fun to me." then you saying "Yeah well I find guns fun so your just wrong."
Do you understand what personal experiences are?
And trust me it was no conservatives who tried to show us what animals having sex is like lol.
The point is that you expand your personal bad experience to a universal conclusion that it doesn't support.
I showcased a different example showing that your conclusion that government sex ed is a bad idea clearly is not true.
*Your* government sex ed might have been poorly implemented, but that does *not* in any way, shape or form translate to government sex ed *universally* being bad or being a bad idea.
And like I mentioned, your experience can easily be explained in other ways then "government sex ed" is a bad idea.
Because government education being something micro managed by politicians or parents most definitely isn't something that applies universally.
@Losalt All you've done is explain your personal experience of your country and haven't proven shit so lol. You aren't going to make me think Ah yes this great because you think it's good in your country.
Maybe you should also not apply your personal experience universally? Or do you just like been a hypocrite?
I would say yes because it´s useful knowledge for both sexes. Girls because it happens to them guys because the earlier they are confronted with it the more likely they understand what´s happening. In my school my sex education involved a teaching about it.
Exactly 💯
Yes by their parents. I've taught my boys about periods just so it's normalized to them by the time they are adults
You're a great mom
Do they also know how to cook and clean for themselves? Just curious.
Progressive parenting is kinda lost in India.
That's good to hear
Mom scolds me a lot for not doing the chores around the house and leaving my brother or dad to do so. Like they are kings or something lol. It's not just the fact that I don't help that offends, it's the fact that men are working in the kitchen that pisses her off mainly.

I don’t thinking teaching kids about periods would end the stigma behind it. I think it’s just something that regardless people will still find gross. It is what it is.
I feel gross whenever I’m on my period and in my opinion , it’s something that doesn’t need to be glamorized nor do I care if a man finds it gross.
@reds-noro personally speaking, I don’t really care what anyone has to say in regards to me caring around tampons. I carry around tampons so I don’t ruin my pants. If someone has a problem with that, they can take it upon themselves. Also don’t care if people think periods are gross, because truly they are. Oh well
I am not saying periods aren't gross. Just saying that it's plain wrong for people to shame you when carrying around things like tampons. How you personally feel about it is not really important. You see there is this thing which helps us understand the feelings of others, it's called empathy. What if you put yourself in the shoes of someone who struggles a bit more with confidence (or whatever you want to call it) than you. Would that help you understand? Would that make you more aware of the effects that the taboo surrounding periods have?
@reds-noro people demand empathy for the most ridiculous things these days lol if you feel too embarrassed to carry around a tampon because you care how others think of YOUR period, that’s a you problem. I’m currently in bed being tortured by my period cramps, me giving an f about how others feel about my period ain’t making my cramps go away.
Literally being bullied for simply carrying one around is what I'm talking about. People not being allowed to go to the toilet to attend the leaking because periods are not taken seriously is what I'm talking about. Not whether people find periods gross or not. I've said that already.
All you want to do is complain about others being crybabies. Literally all the people that refuse to understand a single fucking word are only reading the comment because they are looking for excuses to complain about others being 'snowflakes'. Have fun in bed being a grumpy. I'm sure it's nice.
Uhhh your comment specifies gives me not reading in order to call you a snowflake when in reality I’m just pointing out that a man thinking a period is gross is not stopping me from my cramps , pains and period, so I don’t understand the point of even caring if a man thinks it’s gross lol we have two different view points. You didn’t even bother to interact with several other answers that you would agree with.
"people demand empathy for the most ridiculous things these days lol" (while not entirely wrong, with the specific context that is provided, taboo surrounding periods, it is incorrect and uncalled for). You forgot that part of one of your comments. I am not going to interact with everything every time just to keep the comments somewhat short. It's for the better. Besides, you are mostly just repeating yourself. This is not about your cramps. I don't care about them. You don't care that I don't care. Stop bringing them up, they are not relevant.
@reds-noro the most ironic part about this, is you chose to interact with someone you think doesn’t care. This is the problem with your generation. Your generation needs severe mental healthy help.
You don't care what others think of your period... yeah, that's not the topic. Teaching kids about poop does not make it less gross to them. Same with periods. It's not about glamorizing periods or lightening period cramps. I have already said that. And already said that I have already said that. I replied to you because you are completely clueless of what this is really about. What the effects of teaching kids about periods are. Perhaps that's where you lack of empathy comes from. Makes sense now that I think about it.
@reds-noro I’m clueless about what this is about? This is about sexism. And regardless of what is taught, people will still have their opinions. If you are teaching for info, great but teaching to stop an agenda isn’t going to happen. Your generation doesn’t seem to concept that at all. And people your age are exhausting the world.
It does lessen opinions... that's what normalizing does, lessening negative and extreme opinions. And it is your generation that is contributing the most to this type of education. Millennials are adults, gen z is partially minors. One has more influence than the other. Gen z is actually reaping the benefits. And because of that we also push for more education to reduce social stigma about certain topics.
@red-noro no you guys use education to try and minimize other peoples opinions , just like you only commented on this to attempt to my minimize my opinion. The funniest part about this, I’m not even against educating about periods, I just don’t think it’s beneficial to the sexism agenda.
@reds-noro How about think about stuff that serve more importance, like I don't know people that are actually oppressed and suffering. If you are too embarrassed to carry around a tampon, that’s a you issue.
Repeating things that are not relevant to the conversation. Great job, really helps along this discussion.
Besides, this is literally in the package 'social norms'.
And we can do multiple things at a time. Otherwise the fighting over what should be prioritized would mean that no progress will ever be made.
@reds-noro being embarrassed as a young girl to carry around tampons and pads is normal and it’s only an issue because you are bored. Abortion rights are being taken away and men pretending to be women having bigger opportunities than women that were in their places before are bigger issues. Focus on those
@reds-noro your initial point was people are too embarrassed to even walk around with tampons
2. This issue isn’t a real issue anymore. It’s a made up issue presented by bored people on the internet
@reds-noro so are periods normal or are they aren’t? Because you just implied they aren’t normal…
This is exactly what I mean though, bored people on the internet make up anything
As early as possible by the parents. Schools should do it a bit later, when the rest of the sex ed is also kicking in. Essentially parents help their daughters with their periods and school eventually makes it clear that it is completely normal for people to have them (normalize it). It's a bit more mature than things like 'when 2 people love each other they might get into a relationship' so "as early as possible" is not really a great idea.
I was taught what periods were when I was 10 since I was starting puberty and mom had to explain to me what it was and what happens. I of course had asked lots of period questions before I actually got mine, so I was prepared for it and knew what to do without needing help. But schools started teaching us puberty when we were in 5th grade (I was 12 at the time). There wasn't anything new I learned from that since I was already taught.
Kids, yes. Both boys and girls. It's not dirty. It's not gross. It's not taboo. It's part of girls and women.
Before they hit puberty, definitely. However, puberty can come at different rates, so that’s why better a bit early than a bit later.
Yes sexual education is good, but like some others pointed out, right now I don't trust the schools to provide a healthy education, let alone sex-ed.
And about the period jokes part, I never heard any guys directly shaming girls on their periods, not because we had sex education, but mostly because we were not really aware of it, and not at all close to girls for making such kind of jokes.
Yeah girls should be thought about periods and what to do when they happen at the age when most girls get them
What about guys? The ones with great misogynistic period jokes?
I was thinking the period class would be something just for girls I'm not sure what the guys would be learning unless u think teaching them would lower those stupid jokes
Would it? From a man's perspective
As an adult man yeah but these are kids were talking about they will find anything to bully over maybe if the guys took an anti bullying class at the same time it would help
Insightful
Yes by the parents or a health class (girls only class), i think it would make it a less confusing time.
I knew about it already at the age of 8 or 9 by my mom
No. Girls when puberty begins to show. Boys, later on.
My 5 year old son knows about it, at least vaguely. We'll answer questions as he has them
Yes, kids should be taught early about periods.
Parents should educate their children
At 12 or 13 by their parents.
Yes, punctuation is very important.
at least ones who are going to get them
Thanks for like!
Or about to get them
