Hell No!
I rather control the car and not have the car control me.

I'm with you. I won't have "smart" appliances, let alone a car. I don't trust them. I don't want to be monitored or controlled.
No way
Sad world we live in

I wouldn’t mind it. With most self driving cars, as soon as you grab the wheel it automatically turns back into regular driving mode.
So even if something’s happening, you can just grab the wheel and instantly take control again. So I trust it.
I recently saw a TikTok of someone who ordered an Uber and a self driving car with no driver showed up. Now THAT I would be afraid of 😭
I can see the logic of it potentially helping "bad drivers", but it's important to have control of a vehicle. Technology can and does fail as well. Do you really want a self-driving vehicle to experience a technological glitch WHILE it's operating? That would be a huge hazard to those in the vehicle and everyone sharing the road with them.
Bad drivers need to either correct their stupid, negligent habits, or just refrain from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. As far as drunk drivers and such, install ignition interlocks on all vehicles to help curb it. Penalties for drunk/drugged/distracted driving need to be increased as well.
Caught texting behind the wheel? You need pull over and immediately cited. Yes, even if it is your first time. It may be your first time getting CAUGHT, but I can guarantee it isn't your first time ever doing it. You need a decent fine your very first time and your license/plate number needs flagged. No exceptions. If you're caught again, the fine increases significantly. Caught a 3rd time? You're done. Your license is suspended and you pay a very large fine. Don't agree/don't like the fines? I have good news - there is a very easy way to avoid them! Don't freaking text and drive! Put the phone DOWN. It can wait. Nothing is that important. Stop risking your life, your passengers' lives and the lives of everyone else sharing the road with you.
Drinking and drugged driving needs to be even more harsh. First time caught = points on your license, hefty fine and requirement to go to court and take a drug/alcohol course because clearly, you have a drinking/substance abuse problem. Caught a second time? You get your license suspended, pay a major fine, have to go to rehab for your issues and possibly also face jail time (especially if you don't comply or do not like the idea of rehab for your drug/alcohol issue).
If this sounds harsh, it really isn't. You have to crack down on things like this. You shouldn't just give people a slap on the wrist when they are being irresponsible and downright unsafe behind the wheel of a vehicle. They aren't just putting their own safety at risk. They are risking the safety of everyone else on the road with them. Serious offenses call for serious penalties.
Yes. A lot of people are bad drivers, dangerous drivers or inebriated drivers. Computers run our elevators, run heart lung machines, and do most of the airplane flying and landings which is astonishing.
In 30 years people won’t be allowed to drive as they will be deemed too unsafe. Our aging population will need self driving cars. Self driving cars will also lead to few people actually owning cars as one can be called up at any time and you pay for what you use vs owning. This will then reduce parking issues and the massive amount of room needed to store cars while not in use. It’s a good thing.
I have a car that partially drives itself -- it has adaptive cruise control, so in moderate to heavy freeway traffic I can just set the cruise and keep the car in the lane. This is far less stressful than having to be constantly vigilant to prevent rear-ending the car in front of me. I love it.
It's a Honda CR-V. On an open road I would really like to have my BMW 328 back.
Would not want them cars
If it drove safer than I did, I would. The cars already control us by determining how our cities are built, how our jobs operate, and how we move from place to place. Whether I'm the one turning the wheel or not doesn't really change the fact it's the one in charge, not me.
Honestly, the only time where I'd have use of something like that, are when driving on the Highway, 'specially those that I've been driving on repeatedly, as I'd struggle to stay awake then.
I mean, if it goes well, then I'd be too "passive" while driving there.
I was told they can be a nightmare!! Those sensors on the roof are not as well adjusted as they need to be! If a leaf falls in front of the car, it thinks it's about to hit a person and will stop suddenly!! A snowflake will do the same.
Have you see science fiction films like the time cop and demolition man 🤔

I actually like driving; it's fun. If self-driving cars ever become feasible, I will not be getting one.
I have been in cars with self-driving functions a few times. It's a weird feeling and I definitely don't need that. An automatic parking function while I can already go inside would be very cool, though.
Having worked for the big tech companies for a long time, no fucking way.
This is guaranteed too go horribly wrong in not only the worst but every other possible way too.
No. Same here. I want to drive the damn thing.
I know heaps of people that would love to have a self driving car, but driving is freedom and I love how engaging old cars are. I'm going to stick to driving coupes and avoid self driving cars as long as I can.
I got to drive my grandpas old Pontiac from the 1940s. That car was super cool to drive
no i wish for so little in life like, just an over that can prepare and cook meals itself lol
That's not a lot to ask for.
Nope! I like driving. Adaptive cruise control is enough.
Not really, I don’t think I could trust the technology
No. I need to be in control when I'm in the car. I'm a lousy passenger.
No thanks I don’t trust computer failure especially at high speeds
As a person who won't ever drive, I'd have to say yes so long as it gets me there safely.
Last horse that got all crazy eyed I shot. 2 between the eyes by ol black betty. Iffa when I get one of those metal monsters, that young lady speaking somewhere in it I'll surely try to find!
Yes, I would sit in the back seat and watch a movie.
I mean, id like it to but, I'd like to be able to take over, in case something happens. You can't trust computers all the time
What if you could toggle between automatic and manual?
I would be happen if all cars where stick shift
no
if a car accident happens who will pay for the insurance?
Why not? Suicidal industries Inc makes you a best price offer if you promise your corpse to them.
It would be very convenient but I would never trust it.
You still control the car by telling it where to go. But yeah I would wanna be able to drive it myself aswell.
On long distances, could be nice on short ones it is actually decently fun to drive
Nope. I like driving.
you mean a tesla... no 😂
What happens if the car it's a pedestrian or another car? Who's to blame?
I don't think so. I love driving.
Nah driving is fun.
The car can assist but I prefer being in control.
Yes.. I can't drive😂
Yes please.
😅
sure it seems fun
No. I don't trust them.
Not right now but in 7 years I'll need one.
