Do you still enjoy things as an adult?

Or are you supposed to become dead inside?

The reason i ask is so many people are wondering about happiness and how to achieve it.

Is part of becoming a mature person giving up on enjoying life?

It seems like the only thing I can do is work, strangely enough. If I'm not working I'm depressed.

But I'm not a workaholic. I was always the guy who is late, and the guy who is volunteering to go home first.

It's just strange. When I was younger I could enjoy things. I could watch a movie. I could play video games. I could go out and have fun.

Now nothing stirs me. Nothing moves me. I'm just empty inside now.

And it kind of seems like based on my observations that a lot of people are experiencing something similar.

It feels like becoming an adult is becoming resigned to the fact that having fun is a thing of the past. That enjoyment is a thing of the past.

I feel like the only way I could have enjoyment now is to have kids and to live through them. To see them enjoy life.

I saw a kid on the bus looking out the window while it rains. And I remember being like that. Just looking at the rain fall and hit the ground and the millions of tiny water ripples on the ground.

With that aspect of myself completely gone I just wonder if maybe I never realized what being an adult is. Acknowledging the fact that happiness is not a goal that is realistic because happiness used to be when you were a kid and didn't know anything.
