Have you ever realized how important your PINKY FINGER is?

I cut my little finger on my left hand and had to have some stitches. Now that it's healing, I bash it into things, it gets stuck in my shirt sleeve when I put my shirt on, and I have problems with buttoning and unbuttoning things.

I never realized how important my pinky finger was until this happened.

How about you? Any interesting stories about your pinky finger?

Yes, I do have an interesting story about my left pinky. After surgery (knee implant) for some reason, I had no sensation at the top of my left pinky. I was given a nerve block for the procedure, but it was my right knee that was operated on, not the left. So this sensation was strange and I told the doctor about it. He said that this was not normal and he can't figure out where that was from. A neurosurgeon I went to said it could be from a pinched nerve in my elbow. He said I could have been lying on the hand a bit, or positioned myself at night at the hospital where it was irritated. I didn't notice this until I was home and all the medication they gave me had left my body after surgery. The feeling has come back some, but not all. It still feels a little numb. By the way, I was banging it into things too. It was very annoying and the feeling was strange.

Your having a problem with a cut One Pinkie finger, Imagine this, doing a vertical cut on a 300mm diameter sample of an aluminium round bar 50mm thick on a vertical band saw, when the cut closed on the band saw blade snapping the sample down onto the table of the band saw trapping Three fingers of each hand, middle, ring and pinkie, splitting them open and breaking the distal bones of each finger. After X-rays debridement and dressing of all six fingers in the local Accident & Emergency Dept I had to return to work ‘to give a statement’ which due to painkillers I did not remember doing, I was then signed off work for six months, after that back at work on ‘light duties’ for another four. I still have scars and odd shaped nails to this day.

I had a machete go clean through my left ring finger and pinky finger. They look and function normal enough now, but it too several months to heal up and another month to get my finger mobility and strength back... Not a great situation, but I came out OK in the end. It was definitely challenging to do a lot of things during that time, but I kept going and getting things done.

Yeah we don't really realize it until something happens to our hands or feet or legs but we actually take a beating each and every day we abuse our bodies more than we realize but until something happens like this we don't really know it because we're so used to it

I need them all. The thumb is how i text. The index is how i point and balance holding my phone. The middle finger is how I… well hehe. The ring finger will hopefully become useful some day lmao. And the pinky is what i like to hold up when i text or sip things

Yep every finger is important I remember cutting my pinky finger like you when I was a toddler. I also once sprained my thumb needed to wear a specific cast for it. Those were absolute real life nightmares.

I have broken my pinky over 5 times, life is the same without it for me other than piano and guitar. Other than that I found it kinda in the way ngl

No my pinky, but if you break your big toe it's almost debilitating. That toe is for balance, although you don't realize it. When I couldn't put weight on it, I adjusted my stance and now both my little toes help with balance just as much.
