Asceticism... it's key.

I had a dream where I was in a prison, to get out I had to find a hidden key. I searched and searched.

The warden finally stopped me and said he would let me out but I'd be indebted to him for the rest of my life.

I gave up. I sat down and waited. I accepted I might never get out. But if I ever did, I wouldn't be anyone's slave.

To be able to do that, required asceticism.

I don't think that this would ever happen because people need water, food, shelter and sleep in order to survive. Those are the 4 basic needs that every single human being MUST have.

Most of us don't have, nor are they able to have all of them without the help of others. Therefore, we all will always want something from somebody else.

If I want to survive, then I first need to drink. Most places in the world don't have water clean enough in rivers, streams or other bodies of water. Thus we depend on those that either desalinate the water from the ocean or make it potable by use of chemicals or other means not available to the unbeknownst.
