We are used to only one form of life based on on carbon. But there could be plenty others we are not able to recognize.
At least after reading some books (Sagan, Cox, deGrasse Tyson, Michelle Thaller) I'm quite sure there more things we don't know and don't see, than we know and are able to observe.
Anything's possible. Your question reminded me of The Integral Trees, a 1984 science fiction novel by Larry Niven.
