Your statistics are way off. About 28% of black children have no father at home or anywhere else.

However, just because there's no father at home doesn't mean those children have no positive adult male relative they can rely on, or who they regularly spend time with: an uncle, grandfather, older brother, cousin.

I can't be insulted about a situation I didn't create and have little control over.

What I do is work in programs that engage minority children in positive school, after-school and summer programs. I'm part of that village it takes to raise children well.

Or you're mixing information for two articles you've read. The one you've linked to states 38.7 percent are in single family households. That is 8 percent more than minor white children which is a statistical difference., which is a problem.

You know most black people raise their children and follow the law. Five to 10 percent of people are lawbreakers. That holds true no matter what race.

But racism and lack of funds to get good lawyers mean black defendants get poor outcomes and often end up in prison. Today there are still people in jail for possessing marijuana in states where it has become legal. Not people who were selling, but people who were using small amounts. But 20 years ago ANY amount put you in prison.

The Innocence Project is attempting to change this. But the wheels of justice move glacially. Same is true for small amounts of cocaine. Jail time. And now, in various states, 17 year olds are denoted as and given sentences like grownups.

Every psychiatrist and psychologist knows that disadvantaged youth from homes with no money and/or education, or a parent in prison, do not have adult brains or consciences.

To put a child away for 20 years is a death sentence. They'll never be the same, and more than likely never be able to rejoin society since they've been incarcerated with hardened criminals for so long.

And there is NO REHABILITAION IN PRISON. There are precious few high school diploma programs and almost no college degree programs: education is the path toward enlightenment.

It costs somewhere around 75K a year to keep a person incarcerated. And that person doesn't pay taxes or contribute to society. It costs less than a third of that amount to educate a person toward a bachelor's and give them skills and the education to make a worthwhile life.
