Assuming people weren't greedy and paid fairly, what work week you would prefer and why?

Biblical standard 6 days of work for 4 hours per day.

Modern-day 4 days of work for 10 hours per day.

I just think working circa 40 hours per week isn't an efficient way to work. People generally can't work at an efficient level all day just sat at a desk. I could probably fulfil most of my role 4 day x 6 hours a day. Working 5 days a week, 8 hours per day, basically means those days are stolen from you. You have literally in the way of creative energy or time left once you've done all you need to do.

It's a crushing of the human spirit.

At least 20 percent of my wage is thefted by the state for programmes which are essentially there to abuse or disadvantage me. However, in reality, deductions account for something like almost half of my wage. I'm not motived by the notion of work. I also see benefits claims at work and see that people get hefty sums of money for sitting on their arse.

The whole thing is a shit show. I have no investment or regard for the system.

People who subscribe to this system likely have no artistic cultivation and could find no other fulfilling way to fill the time. The way we live and work now is fairly tantamount to modern slavery.

We really need to evolve as a species and get our prioritises straight. The introduction of technology was supposed to free us from our bondage.

Depends if you like your job. I worked at Disneyland and loved the job so the hours went by fast. When you hate a job they go by s-l-o-w-l-y.

@Daniela1982 True. Busy roles fly by, too. My job is so so. I'm quite interested in more creative roles, going forward. But given they do work on the basis of bursts of creativity and can be quite intense, you can't do something like that 40 hours a week.

okay... if you want to work half of the time

then you also have to earn less, you pay less taxes... and everyone else does a lot less as well and everything can slow down and starts to get stuck

a day in the city usually has two peak hours of traffic, and even a third, for other shifts

if you make people work four hours, this increases peak hours of traffic four times more... which can be annoying as fuck, and very expensive as well

I may also point off that nurses work three 12 hours shifts and get 4 days off a week, and get paid for 40 hours.

yes nurses do work 12 hour shifts because, switching turns and staff can be CHAOTIC even when done twice a day...

so imagine if they shift and switch six times a day? that would be insane...

also.. if you start earning a living wage by only working four hours a day

people are just going to drop school and not bother with education anymore... lol

The reason being you still get the same amount of money by working four 10 hr. days as you do working five 8 hr days. It just cuts down on traffic and gives people a 3 day weekend, which is better for the family.
