My wife is one of those people who tear up when a sad scene comes up in a movie she's watching or a videogame she's playing.
She cries even with poetry and literature. I was practicing reading There Will Come Soft Rains - both the poem by Sara Teasdale and excerpts of the short story by Ray Bradbury - for a public event and she started to sob in silence.
Sometimes I envy people like her, I think they enjoy art and media far more this.
The short story focuses on a futuristic house run by robots whose occupants - father, mother, children and grandmother - have been vaporized by an atomic blast after WWIII.
The only survivor is the dog, sick with radiation, whom dies of despair when it realizes the family is gone.
