I've spent waaay too much time thinking about this question. I text a lot and use both "hehe" and "haha" in my messages.

"hehe" is my "evil scientist" laugh. I use it when I want her to know I'm up to something devious.

"haha" is my "I know what you're saying, and I like" it laugh. Usually in response to something naughty she said.

Of course, with texting there's a lot of nuance in timing and context.

Ohh okay I gotcha now. Yeah if you're telling me "hehe" means you're acting out then that definitely falls into option A of being sneaky or up to no good haha. Cuz whenever I see my friends type that it's usually right before they're about to do something stupid or mischievous.

Like one time someone I know messaged our group chat "hehe" and next thing we know he jumped into the school fountain fully clothed! So now anytime I see "hehe" I automatically assume someone's planning some kind of trouble. Makes sense that's what you meant too if you're acting out.

I was overthinking it before with the Michael Jackson stuff or accidentally typing it. But nah, "hehe" means you're about to cause problems for sure! Just don't do anything too crazy, miss getting detention haha. Just minor stuff I guess, as long as you don't get in serious trouble. Guess I'll be on the lookout for your next "hehe" scheme then!
