How has been the start to your year?

On a scale between 1-10? Mine has been like a VERY WEIRD 1 or 2

I've had a shocker , I will say a 2/3 coz it can always be worse..

I have a tenant in Australia , who is simply NOT paying , or paying just a tiny amount , arrears is massive , Its Australia ( like California ) the owner had no rights , waiting on a hearing and can't get in due to the backlog.. she just does not pay , its a massive amount of money $675 pw and I am OS..

My long term girlfriend who I was trying to set up for life , I found was having an affair with a Tom ( female ) , and has now moved in with her , quit her job , moved areas.. right out of left field. Then ( too quick I know ) , another girl moved in with me , so full on , I think I was still recovering , we travelled all around Thailand , South and Central , then one day she berates me , coz I can't do 4/5 calls a day , I told her one is enough in the evening , she then comes back here to say she is getting married and showing me the pictures ! ( think I dodged a bullet there ) . nut case.

So then on top of all this sht , where I had lived for over 5 years , did not wish to renew my lease ( $$$$$$$ ) , so I had to move , but that could be a good thing , I found a little house.

So yeah , in absolute summary , no matter your age , my 2024 has been totally fcked beyond belief.

I'd give it a 7. I haven't actually done very much of note but I've never been sober for this long (over 4 months now) in so many years. So I'm really in a cheerful and positive mood.

Actually I really started to suspect I had permanent brain damage towards the end of last year when I finally quit, because I was starting to feel like my mind was clouded even when I was sober. Like I'd need alcohol just to think straight and uncloud my brain, only to get cloudy again when I started getting drunk.

So I'm really happy because over the months since I quit drinking, my mind has cleared. I can now kind of hone in on a thought in ways I thought I couldn't ever do again.

Like last year, I wouldn't even be able to write this answer to this question when sober. I'd write one sentence and feel like I can't articulate what I want to say until I started drinking.

This year, there has been no catastrophic event in my life, and I started this year in a good way. I know, it's too early to say such things. But I'm currently smooth sailing.

I have to stay at home because I need to fix me many things. However that is not off my plan so that is good but my feeling is bad.

So far so good. I did not gat laid off from my job. I started teaching again. I got some projects done on my house. I found out my wife did not have a horrible disease.
