That I basically raised my little brother.

My upbringing was a little messy and my parents like to act like I'm the one with no morals and I'm selfish and all these terrible other things, but my brother is the opposite.

Part of that is my own fault. I used to take the blame for all sorts of things he did. I was already on such a dark path in life, I didn't mind much if it meant my brother could have some semblance of a normal life. Which I wanted for him very badly.

Because of the divorce, my parents weren't overly concerned with disciplining my little bro or confronting him about his faults.

My goal was to plant things into his head at a very young age that would guide him well, no matter what his world view turned out to be.

It was the most bittersweet feeling that started to come years later when my dad would tell me he was proud of him because of something he said, and it would be almost word for word what I was telling him when we were little kids.

The only part that sucks is now that he's hit his 20's he forgot where it all came from and he thinks he's figured it all out on his own. I guess this is similar to what it would feel like to be a parent.

Sometimes I feel bad because he'll tell me about things that pop into his head and he doesn't know why, and I can see how I caused them unintentionally.

Most of them are good, but some have fed into undesirable avenues.

I still have a great relationship with him and he knows that I suffered a lot so he didn't have to and thats more than I really deserve to ask for.

I just hope as we get older it all ends up being a net positive.

This is a strangely worded question. Since our parents are usually the FIRST people we keep secrets from, and many of us kept many secrets from our parents, how does that qualify a secret?
I suspect that unless you’re a particularly deceitful person, your parents will be the people that most people keep more secrets from than anyone else in their entire life. If for no other reason than you’ve known them the longest and that’s where it all starts. Not to mention, most people don’t behave exactly as their parents raised them to behave, so their lives will be full of silly little secrets that everyone except their parents actually knows. Ell oh ell!

My Dad when was 15 he did a Black Girl. So it’s not like he can point the finger.
