Have you ever driven while drunk?

Question

I did once and I will never do that again. I was lucky that night that there were hardly any cars on the road despite being on the interstate. All I wanted to do was close my eyes and go to sleep but I kept pushing all the way back to the hotel.

My best friend and I were out of state in New Jersey so I didn't know the roads either which made it even more dangerous.

Made me believe in guardian angels.

HELL NO!!!

I fear cars and airplanes. Even though I drive all day every day and ride in airplanes all the time. It still makes me anxious and makes me imagine the worst happening. I’m a serious seatbelt user.

Once when I was about 21 I drove home buzzed. Fortunately I got home safely. I vowed to never do that again. Now I'm careful to monitor my state of intoxication -- most of the time I'm going to be driving home. If I'm feeling it, then I stop drinking.

It used to be a way of life.. If you were out on Friday or Saturday night you had to assume that all the oncoming cars were driven by somebody who was drunk. I have a vacation house on an island and there is a road that goes all the way around the island. On the weekends people would only drive clockwise so there would be no head on collisions. Where i grew up there was a restaurant that would serve you a steak dinner and all the beer you could drink. It was on a pretty major highway. People would get absolutely legless and get in their cars and drive out onto the highway. If the cops wanted to they could have pulled people over all night long. Looking back it is horrifying.

No. I never drink alcohol. I have seen too many people mess up their lives from alcohol. Plus it leads to diabetes, pancreatic and liver cancer over time.

I have not. I always made sure I either had a ride home with someone sober or stayed the night if I was at a friends place.

I did twice. Honestly though when I have to drive I become extremely aware, drive the speed limit, my body and mind feels so extremely alert so I’ve never worried about those two times as I was extremely cautious.

Never i don't think i ever got drunk im my life. I only drink on special occasions and if i do it's only a glass or two which is not enough to get drunk.

I never did, but I got in cars with drunk or high drivers a few times in high school... I'm lucky to be alive.

I used to routinely. I stopped after a damaged my car, running off the road while drunk. Haven't driven drunk in decades.

Ya I did in high school all the time and would just take back roads to get where I was going. I know my limit in terms of being way too drunk to drive safely though.
