If you don't have a water dish for them it might happen. Or maybe they just like bobbing for brown floaters?

My Abby kitty 😻had too much class to drink water from a toilet!
She would lay or sit in the bathroom sink until someone needed to use the bathroom and would turn on the sink water and she would lap it up. Or she would drink her water from the kitchen water faucet.
My cat will on very rare occasions. he's rather harass the whole family the monent the fridge door opens and will keep going and going and going until he gets a sniff of what you're eating and disapproves haughtily like the asshole he is.
My cat will hardly ever drink from anything but his favorite water dish, and with beg for us to refill it even if the one next to it still is full of water. I doubt he's going for the toilet...

I have two cats and a bowl upstairs and downstairs. There is zero drinking from the toilet, the fact the toilets have lids likely does help lol.
Years ago I had one that did but we had small dogs that couldn’t reach that far even though we had water for them they would still try
One of my cats did. The other did not. I always made sure they had plenty of water. In the summer I would put ice cubes in the bowl.
Nope. Our dog has two water bowls she drinks from. The lid is always down on the toilets anyway.
I have a cat fountain. They seem to like flowing water
they never have
No that door stays closed.
