I was definitely emo in high school. I don’t like to consider myself emo now, because I am a lot more cheerful/upbeat, now. lol 😂

I didn’t believe the saying until recently. Although, it is a lot more subtle, now. The cheerful part of me takes over. I think I just found happiness in my belief. 💜

No, I got along with most groups when young but I never really understood the goths and emos. I didn't like the default negativity. Always melancholy and writing depressed corny love songs. And those coloured spiky mops they called hair, bleh lol. I often made fun of that clique in school. I was in the Popular/Jock/high achiever crew. With the addition of being the only Christian in class so I was simultaneously disliked but also liked in some weird way.

I was part of the semi-popular group, even though I was emo. I was also an athlete, so that may have also helped. lol
I was a normal emo, tho. I bottled up a lot and I didn’t really bond with other emos. lol
They didn’t really fit into the circle I was in. They were never judged, tho. No one judged at my hs, but then again it was a small school.

I remember there was another emo chick on our track team, but she was giving pick me emo girl vibes. She made it her whole personality. It made me want to gag. 🥴
It wasn’t natural at all.
It comes naturally to some, and some (like some of spiky hair peeps) are try hard. lol

I have worn all black since I was 13, but that is just because I liked the look of it. Later I kept wearing it because it is easier to have the same clothes. I don't need to figure out what to wear, and when my clothes stat getting worn out, I just reorder the same things that I save on an Amazon wish list.

Emo wasn't really a thing when I was a kid. A couple of my friends were into Marilyn Manson but the school we went to was fairly strict about appearances so no makeup or dyed hair made it.

Not exactly. I've always worn black because I found it more comfortable. I am, loosely speaking, a metalhead... but the way I've dressed has never really been based on that. My love of long-coats and the way I tie my hair back was inspired by Highlander (the TV series, actually, rather than the films). Still, I fit in pretty well with goth folks due to things in common.

I had my emo phase. There is nothing wrong with goths though. I just chose to go down the emo rabbit hole. I’m not emo anymore and actually wear bright colors. But I will say that it was easier to dress when I only wore black/dark grey because I’m colorblind so it was less of a struggle to pick out outfits.
