What was your favorite thing to do in the summer as a kid?

Oh, I hate answers like this because I feel like it makes me sound so pretentious!
With that caveat out of the way…. my family owns a small estate in Ibiza, Spain. (Anyone from Europe will know it immediately, but most Americans have even never heard of it or pronounce the name wrong. In Spanish, the letter "Z" is pronounced as "TH”. It was always my favorite place to go when we lived in England. I think it was also my brother's favorite place too. So even after we moved to The States, every summer we would pack up and head off to Ibiza. Because of my parents work schedule, usually dad would take us out there, and in two weeks Mom would show up, and dad would fly home. But we got to spend a month there. Again, it is my all-time favorite place in the world. Not just the island of Ibiza, but the Villa itself! It was the only place as a kid where I felt truly safe. Just the thought of it, fills me with a sense of serenity! Would give my left pinky tone for a month in Ibiza right now!

It REALLY is! Yes, it also happens to be the “Party Capital” of Europe, but that's not why I love it so much! For me, its natural beauty, its magnificent beaches, and the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean make it absolutely idyllic! The fact that I also felt so safe there as a child, makes it feel like… well, like home! I highly recommend you go, and I cannot wait to hear all about your experience when you do get back.

not the beach... but the mountains, going up to the mountains in Northern Mexico, we lived by them for a shorter period of time, but we would rarely go up and there and "get lost" in the woods, and that's something I always wanted to do, if not moving up there... visiting there ever summer was the dream... but we just didn't do it that often

so, my favorite thing to do? jumping into the clear streams of water up there in the mountains, lmao... and yes, they were cold AF too...

Iiked going to fair and eating candy apples and cotton candy. Yummy!
Riding the cable cars to Fisherman 's Wharf in San Francisco and eating the seafood the street vendors sold. Just walking outside the ward and eating delicious fresh seafood.
Going to the park for a picnic.

Swimming with my friends at their houses in my neighborhood, and playing games in the pool. There were about 7 of us that spent our entire summers together when we were little and it was the best experience of my life. I still talk to these people regularly too.

I use to spend a lot of the summer holidays playing sports.. Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash and Badminton! My local Sports Centre use to have every mon to fri, 2 hours every day free for kids

We had 30 minutes of each activity and I loved them all. I still play a lot of Badminton even now, Well I did up until a couple of weeks ago. Both me and Derpy are hobbling around at the moment!

My family had a summer house when I was a kid. My brother and me went swimming, we had a boat and went fishing.

there were old military installations that we used to explore and we just goofed off for the whole summer.

My father died and my uncle ended up with the house. He would not sell it to me so when he died his kids ended up with it. They sold it 3 years ago and last winter the place got destroyed in a big storm. I bought a house up the street. It is at the top of then hill so the chance of getting washed away by the ocean is pretty small. My uncle did me a favor not selling it to me.

okay- When I was 24 I was planning on moving to Colorado maybe forever. I was going out there with another kid. I even helped him fix up his car so it would make the trip. I had impacted wisdom teeth and I wanted to get them out before I left. I had them removed in the hospital and it took a few days before the swelling went down. I called this kid to tell him I was good to go. His mother told me he left without me. I was angry but I was still in town to go to my family's vacation home on Memorial Day. I was cleaning up the yard when a group of 8 or 9 people walk by. My friend was with me and he started talking to them. I just kept working until I noticed a girl wearing cutoff jean shorts and worn out old sneakers. She had the prettiest smile I ever saw. I tried to talk to her but she totally shut me down. Later I went down to the beach and tried again and this time she told me that she just graduated from college and she lived near where I lived. She would not tell me her name because she didn't want anything to do with me. I ended up going to her college library and getting her yearbook. I went through the whole thing until I spotted her picture with that same smile. I got her name and was able to look her up in the phonebook (this was the 80's). She asked me how I tracked her down and I told her. She was actually impressed that I went through all that trouble. I asked her if she would go out with me and she said that she was starting a new job out of state and was leaving the next day. I chalked it up to my crappy luck and forgot about it. A month or so later I ran into her again at the beach and we spent a lot of time together and decided we would try to date each other. A year and a half later we got married.

My wife and I grew up in neighboring towns. I used to eat at the McDonalds there all the time. We both vacationed at the same place. I knew her grandparents but not her. She worked at the local cineplex. I took a girl there one night to see Back To The Future and while I was standing in line for popcorn this big fight breaks out. Somebody hits me in the back of the head and the next thing you know I'm slugging it out with some nitwit, My future wife was working the candy counter and saw the whole thing. We are both of Italian decent. When we met we had both ended long term long distance relationships in which we were going to marry the other person. I could go on but you get the idea,

All us kids got together and would go to the beach during the day (we lived a block away), and then play basketball or softball in the evenings. Some nights we had Little League so we did that. It was great growing up as a kid where I was living.

Me and the kids from my neighborhood used to do all kinds of stuff. From building go karts to building clubhouses, to staging mock battles (that one wasn't very safe when we got twine and tree branches and started making bow and arrows. Luckily no of us could shoot and no one got hurt🤣). We got boxing gloves and staged boxing matches. We'd ride bikes all over town. But probably what we did the most is play baseball, baseball, baseball. Good times!

When I was a kid, a bunch of us neighborhood guys would get on our bikes and go to a nearby park and play baseball... for hours... whenever we could. If we couldn't do that, we played kickball in the street... we lived on a dead end.
