The answer was 45, I wanted to see if I said 2000 instead of 1000 if everyone would think the answer was over 1000 💀

Seven, or some number containing seven.

That seems to be the most common numeral chosen by audience participants in magic acts, although the range in those cases is usually from 1 to 10.

I get 1,999, minus the quantity of numbers between 1 and 2000 that contain seven, more tries if I'm wrong.
I'm not going to calculate that number.
I think that there's a seven in there somewhere.
Maybe I'm wrong in that regard, as well.

  Add 4+5.
  The sum is 9.
  Subtract the quantity of numerals that are in 45, which is 2, from 9.
  You get 7.
