I believe being down to earth is a very good quality to have. It also depends on what type of people are you trying to be appealing to? Which there is absolutely nothing wrong with it if you only look for meaningless one night stands then you just boast about previously expensive things you have had or you had done. As the world needs all sorts of people for it to flourish. If you are after more meaningful relationship with someone new, it would only happen if you two know each other and if the other person feels the slightest distrust towards you it will only rise bigger from there until there isn’t any trust between you too at all. In my opinion that relationship is unhealthy and you either have to go heads on and try to rebuild the trust from there which makes you a better person than me already as I personally never been able to trust someone again if it has been lost at some point. If you want people to trust you, you say it as it is. No matter how hard it be for them to hear. So instead of showing off your past trophies, try to talk about what you usually spend the most of your time when you are not sleeping. If you are a workaholic, clearly that’s important to you so describe yourself by talking about the cool upcoming work/projects.
