Why is a woman's scream so disturbing?

Everyone recognizes the sound but if you were to try and recreate it, it won't be easy, most men couldn't with their voices and even if you tried using anything that isn't computer magic, you couldn't, it's also not a sound anyone would confuse with something else and it's always the sound they use for scary movies, ever heard a dude scream? Its more funny than it is disturbing lol

But for some reason it's that high pitch scream that creates this eerie vibe that people wouldn't wanna hear walking late at night, also many jump scares use woman's screams, is it cause it's louder?

What are you talking about? Lots of men can scream "like a woman," and yes you can mistake other sounds for a woman screaming. I believe foxes and mountain lions can make similar sounds that have been reported as hearing a woman scream. Also some people have made whistles that sound like screams—more scary than natural ones, I would even say. I believe it was the Aztec. And there are thousands of compilations of prank videos online where both men and women scream, and both are funny. Almost none of what you say holds up...

There are several reasons women's screams are used almost exclusively in horror, and they are very interesting. You should look it up If you're curious. But no, it's not because women's screams are uniquely special or scarier than men's screams.

I don't know if that's true. Personally, most of the guys I know my age can scream well into the "woman" level pitch if they try. I can't, but thats just because my voice is en transit right now. I think most men just haven't tried, and that's cool. Not a problem.
