Personally, if I like someone, I automatically laugh a lot more. Not necessarily to flirt, but because their presence makes me happy.

Bút smiling is a trait that makes someone look more attractive, it's simply human nature to be more drawn to happy people - so while it may not directly be to flirt, I think that's an effect that comes with it regardless.
