Have you ever stayed at a place said to be haunted?

Every spring just about, I would visit Cape May in NJ. Cape May is the most southern tip of NJ, full of Victorian homes built in the 1800's.

One spring, I took my daughters there to enjoy the Victorian homes. They were about 13 or 14, and 17 years old. I booked a beautiful huge bed and breakfast called The Columbia House. Once I gave the owner the check for the stay, she gave me the keys. The home had three floors, and we had the middle floor to ourselves. The house was huge and quiet as it was in a section of town far from lots of people. It was gorgeous. The wallpaper, furniture, fixtures in the bathroom were modern, but everything else was very much Victorian like the many elegant looking lampshades and decorations from that period.

The first evening, we went inside a bookstore. While my girls were busy looking at some books, I picked up an interesting one on a stand called "Haunted Cape May" ! I was curious and looked inside. There I found two pages showing the path that a tour bus (trolley really) took to point out and look at the various haunted homes that were there. To my horror, the Columbia House was one of those homes. "What?" is what I thought. I kept this to myself and didn't tell my girls.

That night, nothing happened but the following to me. I felt as if I were being watched all the time, and a lamp that I turned on, turned off. Maybe I didn't turn it all the way, but that happened. I was so afraid that night, I literally covered the blanket over my head. The girls were not far in another room with cute twin beds. They were fined, or so it seems, but my room, as beautiful as it was, made me feel creeped out.

Before I shared anything with my girls going back home, my youngest mentioned the house was great, but she felt that she was being watched all the time! I had the same feeling, and the older one just said she felt creeped out but didn't say anything.

I used to work as a tech in a gross anatomy lab. Long, quiet hours surrounded by the dead were just part of the job. It wasn’t unusual to find myself alone at night, the only living presence in a room full of cadavers—bodies dissected by medical students.

One evening, I stayed late to fix the computers. Something had gone wrong—either a virus or a bad update. I can’t quite remember. The lab was silent except for the whirring of the computer fans and the tapping of my fingers on the keyboard.

Then I heard it. Footsteps. Sharp, deliberate clicks echoing across the polished industrial floor—high heels. Confident, unhurried. Coming from behind me.

I turned. There was no one there.

Just the naked corpse of a young woman stretched out on the nearest table. Her chest was open, and one of her lungs had been removed, resting under her right arm like she’d tucked it there for safekeeping.

I stared for a moment, thinking, I hope my wife doesn't make beef stew for dinner tonight, then turned back to the computer.

That’s when the faucet at the sink behind me turned on. All on its own. A steady stream of water rushing into the silence.

I didn’t stop to think. I didn’t shut down the computer. I just left -- running, hoping I didn't urinate in my pants. I didn’t look back until I was out of the building.

OMG. I would not be able to do what you did with those bodies. Was the lung placed like that intentionally by the students, or? What happened to you --I would have run out as soon as I heard the footsteps!!!

Now that I’m thinking back more clearly, I’m almost certain it was her rib. The med students must have cut through the sternum to access the heart and then lifted the chest plate, probably put it under her arm before they left. And there’s something else I didn’t mention before—I actually did walk over to the sink and turn off the water. The faucet knob had definitely been turned all the way open. I don’t know how it got like that. I was hoping that the faucet would still be in the closed position -- that would have made more sense, like a plumbing issue. But, when I turned the faucet the water turned off, so there was no other way the water could have been gushing like that.

I have. A hotel on the east coast of Canada. I was excited and actually requested the best room. Sadly nothing happened. Breakfast was good though.

Maybe but nothing happened. Was a bed and breakfast in New Orleans.

the other two, we didn’t stay. One in Italy. A farm house I didn’t like that it was dark and the decor was also very dark. No AC in the hot summer so we left and glad we did. We found a much nicer hotel with yummy breakfast.
same with the other, Italy or France … don’t remember. beds were not comfortable, windows with no screen and bugs were coming in. Dark … so we just left and got a nice hotel.

Yes and never met anything, because ghost isn’t a real thing. What you see just depends on what’s in your mind

The house you grew up in? My sister's mother in law had a Victorian also and they'd hear footsteps all the time from one side of the stairs to the other, and my brother in law's father had died in that home.
