Nope, I have a strict zero tolerance policy towards assholes. I WILL tell them they are being assholes. Gets me in all sorts of trouble. In the military. At work. In social situations. With friends. With family. Life is short. I'm not gonna waste it sucking up to miserable people. My father was one of those people. My mother used to beg me... "don't do anything to anger him." Nah, fuck that approach. I'm gonna set you off. I don't want you around. You probably won't want to be around me either.
@EmmiL ,
It causes conflict. I'm OK with conflict. I'm OK with risk. I'm OK with removing assholes from my life constantly. And generally, it has worked out for me almost every time. In the military ignorant assholes can get people killed. I won't allow that. In business, most people will respect someone who demonstrates a set of values. In social and family settings, I think I'm just better off without assholes in my life. A moment of discomfort for years without their stupidity and the drama they generate. Seems like a good deal to me.
Example: I was once the CFO of a billionaire's flagship business. I'd only been there about a year. A handful of guys who had worked for him for 20 years did something that I considered shady and borderline ethically a red line. I blasted them, told them to never do that again, and laid out the process they should have followed. They went running to the billionaire proclaiming I was an asshole. He flew out to my location walked into my office and told me to never do anything like that again. he also told me he was gonna dock my annual bonus for my actions. I was smirking. It wasn't conscious. It was just a subconscious reaction. He went ballistic. "You think this is funny". My answer...
"Nope. How would you like me to react. We are trying to build a multi billion dollar business here. We have the systems, process, procedures, and policies in place to create the culture we want. Your buddies just violated all of that. I didn't want that to go unchallenged. So how should I react?"
He stormed out of my office and flew home. Three days later he flew back, walked into my office and launched into a speech that went something like... "Thank you. Thank you for your dedication to the business. The culture is very important to me. I'm sorry. We're lucky to have you. STOP SMIRKING!"
I was smirking again. We're still friends.
I met a guy who invited me to be his guest , but this idiot waited until the door of his home, to trash trump... "you know what trump does is illegal" how do you even answer that... "no" would mean: i don't know about his crime.
I realized a low life democrat using deception, but i was his guest so i acted normal... "tell me" and the whole visit acted normal until i left and blocked the rotten democrat.
I act very differently while working. I probably wouldn't have a job for long if I brought the “at home” me to work.
Yes, I hate it, they are my family members and I was told not to cause conflicts

I think that most people do this everyday pretty much everyday.. Can think of numerous social functions / work meetings / sporting events / presentations / political functions / social family events come to mind.
I think there is someone that hates me but would do it.
Nope I just get laughed at or called a fag-got and that typically sums up my interactions with humans
maybe for your friends and family but normally I don’t like to act … and for me the biggest freedom is to choose the people in your life
Nope, I never had to laugh around someone I don't like.
Because he was my boss.
I'd have probably lost my job otherwise.
