Can a cloud apply for a job as a pillow if it has good references from the sky?

Those clouds certainly could and should. There's no reason for any denial of opportunity to entities who identify as clouds becoming encased in finest cotton to make them pillows. There would need to be an understanding that the clouds could not condense or cool the pillow case too much though.
