Could you date someone who does drugs?

I don't do these drugs by the way. Just curious. I could deal with experimentation but continued use no.

Obviously there are people who are fine with it though. I have a fran who rolls every Friday or Thursday during school & her hookup buddy has no problem with it :)

I would be more likely to. I am enamoured by the twisted modern tragedy of the Junkie. I've been around them since I first became a teenager; I've seen how it ruins lives, and watched them in the exquisite highs that makes it worthwhile. I've seen it kill and create. In fact, the greatest tragedy of my life was caused by a mentally ill junkie; and those two things are the two things I value highly. So, I believe this intellectually, you must understand. My opinion does not come out of Lou Reed Glamour or a simple naivety. Tragedy doesn't make me cower.

The idea of them being strung out and me being sober turns me on a lot, too; and I don't mean like a fetish, I mean like... Taking this girl to a restaurant or some sh*t. While she's out of her mind on H.There's just something so beautiful about that to me. I can't put it into words why but... I wan't that.

If they've experimented, and do experiment, that's a totally different thing, as has been said before on this question. They'd be on MY level. Touching meth doesn't make you a methhead, and you could really split my old high school down the middle of people being methheads and people who did meth. I never touched it, but I had it lined up to buy some. But, no; if they experiment with it, that's cool. We can get it together, do some and enjoy it. Be tentative together, that's a real adventure. I'd be more likely to be with someone like that than a full blown junkie, even.

My perception would change, yeah. Irrevocably. But that's not a bad thing.

Y'all have different perspectives than the typical "drugs are a terrible, horrible thing" mentalities.

I especially liked your first paragraph, from experience, from your environment and surroundings. You didn't just repeat sh*t off of a documentary claiming how bad it is and how detrimental drugs can be

Yeah. Thanks, then. I really hated mentioning how it destroys lives, but it does. But... Not in the way that everyone would have you believe.There's a very very good article written that I've unfortunately lost the link to that explains how the moral panic about drugs is actually far more dangerous than the drugs themselves; he wrote a book he claims is the 'only non-biased book on heroin', in which he, while personally discouraging the drug, explains correct use and how to avoid overdose-

shooting into arteries, etc. And he says no other books or leaflets on the subject have ever touched on that, purely because they spend the whole time pandering to the moral panic, fearmongering in an attempt to ward people off it; which is in effect, burying their head in the sand. He was accused of all kinds of horrible things, for telling people how to take it, but he says all he's doing is protecting the safety of the people, use it or not. Shocking, really.

If it was the hard drugs (Cocaine, Heroin, Meth etc.) then no, because I would only be entering a whole world of sh*t I'd rather keep out of.

If it was LSD, Mushrooms, DMT, weed etc. and sparingly used for the purpose of experimentation and self-improvement, then I could date them without much hassle. There is a risk of things going awry (as with all drugs) but not as much of a risk when compared to drugs like Meth and Cocaine.

Well that's the thing, you go beyond the 'self-improvement' aspect if you constantly do it, so being on it 24/7 wouldn't be good. LSD (and psychedelics in general) can be beneficial if you use it sparingly and with good intentions, but like with everything, too much of it is hardly good for you. Some people don't need the self-improvement, some just do it for the experience of the trip. People take trips for different reasons.

It depends on the nature of their use. I've been clean for like 7 months, up until last week when I drank with friends and got stoned, but I have no desire to get as casually into drugs as I have been in the past. I don't feel like being involved in that lifestyle anymore. So while I've used all three of the drugs you mentioned on several occasions, those in particular have a high likelihood of being abused because they can be very addictive. Obviously, lol. But some people handle them differently than others. I couldn't date an ADDICT, because it's not easy and I don't want to go there again. If drug use is sporadic and super casual, take it or leave it, for exploration, like how I used to do it, then I could probably be okay with that. And if it's a past thing, then I see no issue there at all, it's a past thing for me too.

I live in a big city where drugs are no big deal. My boyfriend has done cocaine, MDMA/ecstasy, speed, TONS of pot, nitrous and probably some other sh*t too.

He and I have done MDMA together and we've smoked pot, but it's just something we do once in a while, we don't have any addictions. I'd be suspicious of someone who has never done any kind of drug by the time they are 18. Its kind of a natural process.

it would be weird here, just because you have drugs in your face almost every day. It's hard not to do drugs actually. The only person I know really well that hasn't done any is my best friend's girlfriend...and she's got this whole morally superior thing that nobody gives a f*ck about.

Meth is a huge no-no. There are so many people in my town who have become ruined from it, I just would not want to deal with someone who deals with it. Poppin mollies, I guess, its not for me and I would not get with a guy long term who did that. coke? no...i'd prefer a guy who sells it over a guy who actually uses it.

i'd be leery if she was still doing harder drugs on an everyday basis, especially coke or meth. experimenting I can deal with since I've done that myself and if it was something in her past that is not part of her present or future I'd be fine with that.

If they just experimented in the past, I'd think they were careless but my perception wouldn't change much. If they were addicted in the past, I would respect them even more for being able to get their life back on track.

Umm I wouldn't date anyone who was on heroin, meth or anything, but like shrooms and weed? Definitely. In fact, I wouldn't date anyone who was strongly opposed to drugs like that, it just wouldn't work out.

Not meth, crack or heroin (period), or anyone who is a regular user of Rx drugs, acid, ex/ MDMA, shrooms (any type of hallucinogenic, really). I've dated guys who have "tried" things, but they were never regular users of it. The only thing I'm OK with in terms of using regularly is alcohol, weed, and cigarettes. Other than that, I don't date addicts.
