I don’t get it. How does this prove God exists?

I have heard religious people say things like “everything has a creator and god is the creator of everything because something cannot come from nothing.”

I just don’t get how saying “something cannot come from nothing” proves God was the actual creator.

I think this comes from Greek philosophy. Aristotle has this idea that everything is in motion. And what ever caused the first motion, well that is god.
