How good are your firefighters?

Where I live here in Southern California, we have these raging brush fires that you've probably read about that are scary as hell. That is the bad news.

The good news is that we have the best firefighters in the world. You may have heard snarky, untrue things about the circumstances and conduct of our fire departments in the recent fires, but that had more to do with administration by the city and the county and nothing to do with the actual firefighters who work their butts off to save us. How good are your guys?

I believe some of the best in the world here... to the point where we would send our firefighters over to Aus and USA to help with wildfires. Though they are severely underfunded...
The house across from me burnt down a few weeks ago in the middle of the night, then a week later we had a wild weather event so they went over and secured everything down to make sure nothing went flying. They currently use the house for training before it's torn down... my town is on a volunteer system which has an alarm that sounds (same one they use for tsunami warnings) when there's an emergency, always interesting to see the truck pull up the street and volunteers running out of their house and jumping in

Well, we have a very small volunteer fire dept which is about 20 miles away from us and if it's a Saturday nite when all 4 of them are drinking the response time will prolly be a little slow but they're good guys and do the best they can and we all love them for it.

We are in the midst of a nationwide volunteer firefighter shortage and an overall firefighter shortage. From Long Island, NY to small cities and rural areas of Tennessee and Kentucky, it has become a dire public safety emergency.

Yeah, I get that. Firefighters absolutely are not paid enough; neither are paramedics.

Maybe instead of all the rage about the deportation of illegal aliens and all this woke crap, why are we not outraged over the condition of our emergency services and how poorly we treat our heroes?

Many people in the U. S. only care about what Trump tells them to care about, which he does for his own enjoyment and benefit.

considering that the majority of their calls are for the elderly and the hospital is 20 minutes away, i think they are okay. the emt's definitely stay more busy. but we have some fires too and it hasn't taken out the whole town yet.

I do not know many of the guys anymore but the firefighters where I live seem very professional, and conscietious. One od my neighbors is a Lt in a Fire dept. I have known hm since he was a little kid. He is a great guy.

I am in SoCal too and I want to know how good they are in other activities. Being silly :) :)

I respect the firefighting world 10x because I live on a canyon lot by a freeway.

Fortunately, I don't have first-hand knowledge, but I do know they turn out several times a day, day and night (and drive past my window).

I know a few of our firefighters and rescue workers and they are all extremely dedicated.

UK here. Our firefighters are excellent but they're somewhat hampered if they can't get to the fire because of parked cars.
