What's something that scares you?

Something that creeped me out is learning more about Moray eels, as I've added eel to my diet.

Believe it or not, it's actually quite good. Most of my life, I didn't understand fear of snakes aside from a healthy fear of not getting too close and provoking animals that may cause harm.

I looked up photos of Moray eels and yeah, these things are terrifying looking. Now they're nocturnal, look and move like sea snakes and have several sets of creepy jaws, sacred yet?

Okay, they use a second set of backwards facing jaws to move forward, grab their prey, and pull it down it's throat into its stomach. Scared yet, no?

Okay, they sometimes tie themselves in knots to gain leverage and tear up the bodies of their prey, and also, look at the picture for 5 seconds without looking away.

Yeah, sorry for ruining your sleep schedule...
Just remember they're a million times more terrified of you than you could ever possibly be of them, if it makes you feel better.

I remember seeing an electric eel when I was on a field trip in 6th grade. To this day I can still picture that eel in my mind.

If you touch both ends of the electric eel at the same time you get electricuted! That's what the tour guide told us as we were standing at the exhibit.
EWWW!!! How can you put one of those creatures in your mouth? Gag!

Here's my thinking, every sea creature is slimy and nasty, so we can't push it aside for that.

Eel is low in mercury content and has about 17 times the concentration of Vitamin A and 1.5 to 3 times the concentration of omega 3 fatty acids as salmon.

The smell is really no worse than every fish when you open the tin and the roasted eel is just like beef jerky with just a sea like aftes taste.

So eel checks off every box except availability, it isn't as easy to find and more expensive but that does not offset the huge benefits.

As for how they look, does it matter in the end? You're never gonna take an eel home and process it yourself, so I see no reason to dismiss eel.

It's scary looking, but so what? The highlights are It's flavorful, safe to consume and loaded with omega 3 fatty acids.

So don't worry, I'll protect you from the eels😜

I get what you're saying! It's healthy for you.
But there's no way on God's green earth is an eel EVER getting in MY mouth. Just looking at it gave me the Willies!

I used to SCUBA dive and I remember that Moray eels were one thing that I hoped I would not encounter.

We get a fair few conger eels around here. A couple of years ago I met a man who had his finger bitten off by one.

You say that like you have a creature in mind for what the scariest creature is. So what would that be?

I always feared sharks but fearing eels is new to me. They just hide in the darkest places in the water, they look so scary, yet they're actually just super shy.

Shy, and looks meaner than it is? I can't believe i have something in common with sea creatures🤔
