Last Friday the cable guy came over to fix my landline phone. Turns out it needed a new modem.

We had good conversations while he was here and he seemed to be very nice.

He looked to be in his 40's, and since I look 15-20 years younger than I am, I think that he was acting like he was attracted to me.

Sunday I sent him a text message to tell him that my phone is working great and also thanked him and said that I really appreciate it.🙂 I also said "You're the man! 👍🏼
He texted me back and said "I'm here if you need anything".
I texted back and said"Great, thank you".
He wrote back and said"You're welcome 🙂".

What did he mean when he said"I'm here if you need anything "?

I would never mansplain anything since I don’t believe it’s even a thing.
But I’ll give my best guess:


If you sensed that he liked you he probably did, you ladies have a very accurate instinct on that front.
And if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck as they say…


But he’s also a blue collar service provider so he’s bound by a layer of professionalism.


If you liked him just throw him a hint.
Maybe make a joke about how you hope he’s single or something.


If he knows the coast is clear he will probably push for a date and see where it goes

You needed a MODEM for your PHONE? When did that ever become an issue?
I guess it's a guy thing where you don't mind helping with issues you can deal with as long as they aren't too many!

I was struggling to come up this fairly steep hill early this year with two huge loads of groceries in my hands when some guy drove by and offered to give me a ride the rest of the way home. It's not so much the distance, roughly a block or so, but the steepness of the hill and the heavy bulky load I was carrying. Plus, at that time, my hip was giving me LOADS of shit so, it was quite hard to walk. After he drove me home, he took my phone and added his number to it and said the same to me. I've asked a few times for help but, he can't ALWAYS come help.
He's had his own hip trouble to deal with!
He only lives about 5 houses away and, I don't ask him for help more than once or twice a month.
In your specific situation, I guess it means, if you ever need help again with your phone system.

It's a landline phone. Isn't that what they call the black box the phone is connected to?

As far as I know, it's just a tiny black box about 2" square that phone is connected to and that runs to the phone line from your house to the main line running above the street. A modem is a large box about 8" tall and about an inch or so wide that has flashing lights on it that tell you if you're online or not and THAT get's connected to that little black box.
Don't you remember those old blues songs from the `40's? "Got my mo... dem woikin'!!"

It probably means what you think but the fact he mirrored your response at the end hints that he probably just thought you were cute and wasn't sure how to interpret possible signals.

But every tradesman has a fantasy about banging a client. I know people who saved themselves from getting fired after proving they didn't show up because they were banging a client. I'm guessing it's less common now though. With everyone being so goddamn broke now
