I mainly use the app, so I could be missing something, but the only bots I usually see are the Dr. Brad Love’s of this site who share a comment under almost every post within their assigned topic. I’ve blocked all those profiles, because as you said, I don’t care for robot interactions. Without seeing those profiles, I don’t see an impact from the AI bots at all.

That may be the best option we have unfortunately, if those are the AI you’re talking about of course. There could be other functionalities I’m not aware of, given how the app is set up.
There is no official answer I know of, I believe that AI personas are funding the website. Otherwise I don't understand how this decades old platform pays its employees. It does not seem to be managed by a foundation, so I must assume AI is the cash source

I'm pretty sure they got handed a big fact check to use AI Bots and the AI Bots can gather our data and sell it to the highest bidder.

Yeah, I've been here a few years before AI and you would just use an ad blocker and a pop-up blocker. Then the website was ad free.

In general, I won't mourn AI if it disappears, as it's mostly a power hungry gadget to me. In the case of g@g, I really don't see any usefulness of AI for the community, but if it pays the site, well, not my business lol
95% of users of this platform want the bots gone, along with anonymous users. This change has been requested 1,000s of times, and what do we hear... crickets?

My best guess is they’re here to generate traffic to the site via google searches. The more people come here the more revenue the site gets.
