A guy called me sweet/cute while he was talking about me (I wasn't there), heard it through someone I know (he was talking to her, he didn't know she would tell me). He talks to me a lot, just asks stupid questions sometimes and seems interested.

He flirts with other girls too though, he's the only guy in my class.

I'm sure he does like you. Don't be offput by the fact he flirts other girls, too. Please understand that we guys get rejected very often (even the most handsome men admit this) and it's not possible to put all eggs in one basket, only to get rejected. After all, flirting doesn't mean anything. It only means that he is trying to be more relaxed around girls he likes. I flirted too before I got into a relationship with my ex and while we were in the pre-date stage (walks in school etc). When we got together though, she was the only girl that mattered to me.

I'd say, start reciprocating. The fact that he asks you stupid questions is actually the most encouraging from the info you shared, even more than him calling you cute (and trust me, he DID know your friend would leak it to you...). It means he is searching for ways to talk to you, so just make his life a bit easier. If you want to do a simple test, try talking to him unexpectedly with a smile. Notice his reaction; if he gets nervous, you can be 100% certain he likes you. Even if he doesn't get nervous, he might just be very relaxed. Don't take it as a no.
