What does 'play date' mean?

this guy I've been texting mentioned that we lived closed and asked 'play date'...? what's that meaning?

he asked me where I live, and was like oh we live close, play date?

Is he asking me out? I'm kinda confused..lol

He's been showing interest in me so I fiigured maybe he's asking for a date..? lol how should I reply back?

Play dates are plans made with friends or someone of the other sex to hang out.

If you're interested in him, you should try going for it.

play date is like the little kid term for hanging out.. so my guess is it was a jokey way to ask you out..? could be wrong though...
